Marcaci Mountain
Full day excursion with picnic lunch. Following the river Sosio will be able to make a few stops between the source “Pioppo” with fresh water and a small picnic area , the shelter of the Regional forestal Institution with the farm museum and brief excursus on the history of the peoples of the hinterland .
Lunch break at the Natural Reserve of Monte Carcaci beautiful picnic area and surrounded by a beautiful naturalistic reality, where you can admire some of the old structures typical agro-pastoral of the century, as the original residences of the shepherds built with natural materials or facilities for the production of coal.
Another important peculiarity lies in the history of the excursion that includes " Hippana ," the Mountain of the horses , where lived an ancient Greek community dating back to the seventh century. Ac, the top of which there was a small town with acropolis and necropolis and a large theater , considered today among the largest and highest in Italy.
Return in the afternoon you can visit the archaeological museum in the town of Prizzi at which are exposed and preserved the relics found at the site.
